Josh Pope produced an outstanding save deep into injury time to ensure Mildenhall Town and Histon Reserves shared the spoils at Recreation Way.
The Mildenhall keeper somehow turned Sam Mason-Smith's header wide when the striker looked to be heading into an empty net in what proved to be the last action of the game.
The hosts had enough chances to win the game, with striker John Sands unfortunate on a number of occasions.
Mildenhall finally broke the deadlock with 64 minutes gone. James Paterson swung across a deep corner which was headed across goal by Dave Werthman. Sands rose highest to head against the bar and the rebound was bundled home by Luke Catchpole.
In fairness to the away side they placed pressure on Mildenhall in the last 10 minutes and got their reward with four minutes remaining.
Substitute Mason-Smith turned inside and from the edge of the box he lifted the ball over Pope to draw the scores level.
Stoppage time was extremely eventful with both sides having chances to win the game.
The impressive Steve Harley fired against the crossbar from 25 yards for Mildenhall, before Pope produced his heroics. |
